Until recently, the most popular source of anthocyanins was from various berries, particularly the blackberry. Researchers at Beijing Gingko Group (BGG), being experts with the extractions of both European bilberry and other fine ingredients, discovered through existing research studies and their own testing that a proprietary extraction of a unique Chinese agricultural product actually yielded higher concentrations of anthocyanins and C3G than with berries.
C3G is the most active and powerful anthocyanin and BGG is pioneering the development with a high potency (35% to 50%) C3G product called super C3G™. BGG is also in the process of developing further clinical research to support the healthy use of C3G.
Anthocyanins are natural pigments that provide color to fruits, vegetables, and other plants. Of the 14 main anthocyanins, C3G (cyanidin-3-glucoside) is the most powerful. Recently, there has been new research looking at C3G as an antioxidant and its potential health benefits. Research shows C3G and anthocyanins in general may be linked to improving vision, controlling diabetes, improving circulation, preventing cancer and retarding the effects of aging, particularly the loss of memory and motor skills.
